I hope you’re week has been enjoyable.
Gaming is good times, did you make it out to a meetup this week?
Where did you game? There was gaming at Learn2Play, The Alley, and Perkins.
If you haven’t been able to game this week there’s still time, there’s a Game-A-Palooza this Saturday at Learn2Play.
Wednesdays at the Alley have gotten a new person or two show up almost every week, they played Age of Empires III, Dominant Species, and Archaeology.
Thursday was jam-packed as always with familiar faces and a few new faces. I was particularly happy when I saw members walking up to others they didn’t know, introducing themselves, and inviting them to play a game… it was a room of welcoming friendliness and that’s what we all love to see.
Let me tell you about the holiday cheer we spread this week. Remember our server Nicole who is going through some rough times with health issues? We took up a collection last week when we heard she was in the hospital and we raised $91.00. I gave it to her this Thursday with a card expressing our well wishes and sincere gratitude for the awesome job she does. I can tell you it was very emotional for both of us and she was deeply touched, she was emotional for about an hour afterwards because of the overwhelming generosity the group showed in appreciation of all her hard work and friendly demeanor. Thank you to the group for taking the time to show someone they make a difference.
Back to Thursday night gaming, the R & R games were popular. We played the new releases: UnNatural Selection, there were a few inquisitors about Coal Baron, and Plunder even hit the table twice. But it wasn’t all just the new buzz, some Times Up! Title Recall was played and was requested to play again as soon as we finished. If you’ve never played Times Up! it’s a great game you can introduce to all your friends and family whether they’re avid gamers, or completely new to gaming. It’s great to pull out with a large group at a holiday party. Don’t forget if you want add some new releases to your collection or any R & R Games you can see me about the perks/discounts we get from R & R Games that sponsors us or if you don’t get the chance to see me, our other sponsor Learn2Play carries their entire line as well and gives our members discounts on all board games in the store.
We ended the night with 4 back-to-back games of Ultimate Werewolf wrapping up about 1:30am!
Have you been out to any good holiday parties? I’ve heard a few members have been busy with holiday gatherings. I know there’s a group of parties coming up around the Tampa Bay area that some of our gamers are going to. Game stores are throwing parties here and there. One holiday party is being held by our Grand Gamer friends in St Pete. Their organizer, Will, has extended an invitation to all of our members to feel free to come out and join in the free festivities of gaming and joviality.
During all the hustle and bustle things may get lost or misplaced, such as games and personal items. Sometimes at our Perkins meetup people are in a rush and forget to pay their bill. When a meal is unpaid we have to pay for it at the end of the night. Most times we can track down who's meal was unpaid and the member reimburses us but not all unpaid meals get resolved. Unpaid meals have started to become almost weekly which we chock up to the holidays and everyone being in a rush, so we kindly ask take a moment when leaving Perkins to make sure you have closed out your tab for food and beverages.
Speaking of forgetting things, if you’ve lost or misplaced any items at any of our meetups please contact me. I am the lost and found department of the group and I keep everything left behind hoping they’ll be claimed by their rightful owner, even things like a random game piece.
That about catches everyone up this week, I look forward to gaming with you and your friends soon!
