Every Thursday we get together at Pane e Vino, a local Bar/Restaurant in Cobble Hill for a night of Argentine Tango. There is live tango music by the trio Importango (Machiko Ozawa, violin; Octavio Brunetti, piano; Adam Tully, guitar). Regulars hang out at the Bar and Lounge, and couples and small groups have dinner or just a glass of wine.
It's not a milonga (dance event) but dancers come by every week to enjoy the atmosphere and listen to the music they love. Inevitably one or two couples get up and dance a few numbers. There is usually at least one guest tango singer who is a friend of the band.
There are many regulars, everyone is friendly, and we (the band) have a great time playing and hanging out. We even talk about tango history and celebrate the birthday of one great tango composer every week.
Join this group if you:
-Like to hear really good, interesting live music
-Want to be transported to another world
-Are looking for a different scene
-Are a tango dancer who wants to learn more about tango culture - songs, customs, people, stories
-Want to find an amazing neighborhood bar in Brooklyn
Adam runs the band and introduces friends, guests, relatives, and tango dancers-- stop by and say hello to him.
