OXFORD/CAMBRIDGE BOAT RACE COURSE WALK

Details

It's become a bit of a Tastour family tradition. It's our 5th year hosting this casual event and it is a fun day out! There are usually around 30-40 of us, so not only is it a great experience, it is really social too!

History: Each year two rival university's compete in the OXFORD/CAMBRIDGE boat race. This event is absolutely legendary! There is a fantastic buzz- hard not to catch as the path and pubs will swarming with ten's of thousands of people. NOT TO MENTION THE EXTREMELY HOT BODS... it is very good people watching for both men and women!

Join us in as we walk 2 miles of the 4 mile course starting at Putney Bridge and finishing in Barnes. (you can keep going to Chiswick Bridge - but we've never had anyone do that) We'll spend a bit more time this year near the boat houses.

We'll walk on the south side of the river, which is less crowded than the north.

WHAT TO WEAR:

As much as I would love to see your new Jimmy Choos, I would suggest you keep your stilettos at home and wear trainers or walking shoes.

FORECAST: Temp 12 degrees. I would dress warm and wear boats in case the trail is muddy.

BAD WEATHER: If the weather is bad-like raining, we will hope on the 283 bus and go to Barnes. They have a big inside area and large screen to watch the race. However, most of the group tend to be die-hards. So if most want to do the walk, then I will help those that don't find other transportation.

IF YOU LOSE THE GROUP: We will meet at tge Coach and Horses in Barnes (turn left at the bull pub/strada in Barnes - if you get to the rail station, you've walked to far)

AFTER THE RACE:

Meet at the Coach and Horses in Barnes.

DON'T WANT TO DO THE WALK?: You can meet us at the Coach and Horses in Barnes

MEETUP COST:

£5, Free for Bon Vivant Members

INCLUDES: History of boat race presentation, guided walk, and a shot of posh Sloe Gin (it's fruity like berries) to keep us warm on the way.

plus meetup charges over £100 per year to have a group on the site, so some of this fee go towards that cost. Please bring cash
