It's become a bit of a Tastour family tradition.  It's our 5th year hosting this casual event and it is a fun day out!  There are usually around 30-40 of us, so not only is it a great experience, it is really social too!

History: Each year two rival university's compete in the OXFORD/CAMBRIDGE boat race. This event is absolutely legendary! There is a fantastic buzz- hard not to catch as the path and pubs will swarming with ten's of thousands of people. NOT TO MENTION THE EXTREMELY HOT BODS... it is very good people watching for both men and women!

Join us in as we walk 2 miles of the 4 mile course starting at Putney Bridge and finishing in Barnes.  (you can keep going to Chiswick Bridge - but we've never had anyone do that) We'll spend a bit more time this year near the boat houses.

We'll walk on the south side of the river, which is less crowded than the north.

For more info on the race:

Please turn Left when you exit the train/tube- We will meet next to the coffee shop, or under the bridge if it's raining.

(We will wait for 15 MINUTES... then cross the river.  There is a chance you could catch up with us.  Cross the river and walk quickly to Hammersmith Bridge.  Text me and we'll meet you there (if we can)[masked]*064

As much as I would love to see your new Jimmy Choos, I would suggest you keep your stilettos at home and wear trainers or walking shoes.

FORECAST: Temp 12 degrees.  I would dress warm and wear boats in case the trail is muddy.

BAD WEATHER: If the weather is bad-like raining, we will hope on the 283 bus and go to Barnes. They have a big inside area and large screen to watch the race. However, most of the group tend to be die-hards. So if most want to do the walk, then I will help those that don't find other transportation.

IF YOU LOSE THE GROUP: We will meet at tge Coach and Horses in Barnes (turn left at the bull pub/strada in Barnes - if you get to the rail station, you've walked to far)

Meet at the Coach and Horses in Barnes.

DON'T WANT TO DO THE WALK?: You can meet us at the Coach and Horses in Barnes

£5, Free for Bon Vivant Members

INCLUDES: History of boat race presentation, guided walk, and a shot of posh Sloe Gin (it's fruity like berries) to keep us warm on the way.

plus meetup charges over £100 per year to have a group on the site, so some of this fee go towards that cost.  Please bring cash

    Hello Tastourians

Just a quick update on the weather today. According to the BBC - it is going to be dry for our walk and for the race. It says the rain will be coming around 8pm, and by then we will be either on our way home or some of us will be having dinner.

From the website: Mostly cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle in the morning. becoming drier for a time in the afternoon before more general rain spreads from the west later in the day.

If you no longer plan to attend, please change your RSVP (Plus for those that have just signed up, please bring exact change for the £5 meetup fee, and when you exit the tube, turn left, cross the road and we'll be inbetween the coffee shop and the bridge)

    See you at 4:30!

Just have to warn you, if it is peeing down with rain, I may opt out- sorry but I think I was a cat in another life and don't like getting wet, preferring to lay in the sun :-) T.T.

Yes, won't be too keen myself if it's a soaker. If it is very wet, we'll find a shelter in Putney :)
