Hello people! Short notice, but next week, June 10th (Wednesday), we'll have our next meetup. This time we will talk about realtime technologies for the web.

The meetup will be held in VG's auditorium, in Akersgata 55.

Schedule:

18.00 - Appear.in (https://appear.in/) - our experiences with WebRTC
Bradley T. Hughes (tech lead at Appear.in) will talk about how Appear.in is using WebRTC.

18.45 - A tale of friendly competition and Server-Sent Events
Espen Hovlandsdal (developer at VG) will talk about how experiences with websockets lead to a deep-dive into Server-Sent Events, performance of different tech stacks and a friendly, internal competition among developers.

19.25 - Streaming real time market data with Websockets
Øyvind Matheson Wergeland (CTO at Oslo Market Solutions) will talk about the necessary infrastructure/architecture for scaling streaming real time data with low latency. The talk will touch on how to leverage the Java WebSocket API, load testing and tuning the entire stack (Linux, nginx, Apache Tomcat). If we have enough time, he will also say a few words about fallback to REST and SEO.

After the meetup, we'll head somewhere for a beer or two. We'll try to find a place where there is no memorial service being held (lesson learned).
