The Imagination Limit - Opportunities in 3D Printing

Ever had a great idea for an invention and found the development difficult?

Had an amazing concept that would be better explained by a physical object rather than words?

Ever wanted to network with like minded, open people in a fast- growing, highly engaging Tech Talent Academy?

3D Printing allows you to create items from computer models, built up from layer upon layer of material, a bit like icing a cake.

You may heave heard about 3D printing in the news, you may have seen videos on the internet and you may have even heard it will change the world.

This workshop will help you make better informed decisions on how this amazing technology could be brought into all our lives and may fundamentally change our attitudes to products, services and education.

You will also get to make some really cool things!

This workshop will come in two parts, one talking and one doing.

What exactly is 3D Printing?

How it works? What technologies are out there and what are the key differences between them

What's been done with it?  See, touch and understand how this is being used in todays context

How easy is it to use? Learn some of the tools and processes for turning an idea into reality

Changes? An interactive discussion on how this technology could be brought into each of our lives and how it might make us think differently.

Design your own custom object in the workshop using some simple techniques.

Learn how to set the object for the right look, feel and properties.

Make the object in one of our 3D printers.

The meetup was friendly and organisers were helpful with any questions etc. I found it a little disorganised (screens not working etc) and perhaps a little to basic - but maybe thats my own exposure to the 3D world from before.
A good experience, enthusiastic, friendly and accomodating - any teething troubles are sure to be ironed out in future meetups! WELL DONE GUYS & THANK YOU!

Very informative session, shame about old tech (TV!) not playing ball, I'd like to have seen more about the software side of things and the full work flow to produce an item.
