We will follow with a Q&A with series creators Maurice Gaston and David Dylan Thomas, and special guests Robert J. Moore, CEO of RJ Metrics, and Bob Moul, CEO, Artisan Mobile and President of Philly Startup Leaders, who are both featured in the episode.

You can visit the Developing Philly website to check out episodes one through five --

Developing Philly is a web series about the rise of the Philadelphia innovation community.

It began in the 90′s, with venture capital flooding the Delaware Valley and tech businesses cresting before the inevitable crash. It began in the 40′s, with ENIAC drawing attention to the computational talent latent in a city not known for being at the leading edge of technology, before poor business decisions and the cold war put those dreams to rest. It began in the 1770′s, with the first open source pioneer, Ben Franklin creating devices and giving away the recipes.

It’s begun again over the past five years, with a sharp rise in coworking, entrepreneurialsm, hacking, coding, building, bonding, collaborating, organizing, and just creating amazing things. Philadelphia is rediscovering itself as a place where innovation can happen, and the community driving that change is ready to tell their story.

Event Schedule

6:30-7:30: Free food and networking with other Philadelphia tech enthusiasts

7:30-7:45: Screening of Developing Philly, Episode Six

7:45-Onwards: Q&A and community discussion with creators and featured entrepreneurs

David Dylan Thomas, the director, co-producer, and editor of Developing Philly, has been making films since he was in high school with two VCRs splicing together a rockumentary about local bands. He’s been in love with technology since he worked in distance education in 2000. Currently he tries to indulge both passions by making this web series, running the Content Strategy Philly meetup, and creating Content Camp, an unconference about the future of content.

Maurice Gaston, the cinematographer, co-producer, and composer for Developing Philly, was trained as an engineer, but is no stranger to video, music production, and the occasional editing, and is now principally a geek who writes code for a living. Telling stories and making things are the two primary drivers that war for his attention. It’s the former that drew him to work with Thomas on the series. And it’s the drive towards the latter that helped it to exist.

Bob Moul is a Philadelphia tech CEO / entrepreneur with over 30 years' experience ranging from startups to Fortune 50 companies. Currently CEO at Artisan Mobile; he was also CEO at Boomi, which was acquired by Dell; and President at SCT, which was acquired by SunGard. He is currently President of Philly Startup Leaders.

Robert J. Moore is the Co-founder and CEO of RJMetrics, a Philadelphia-based company providing hosted business intelligence software to online businesses. Moore also contributes to TechCrunch, using data from popular tech companies to draw new insights.
