From Startup to Success: Second Edition

Please join Tech in Motion: Philadelphia for the second edition of our popular series, From Startup to Success. We profile exciting Philadelphia tech professionals who have had a hand in building accomplished startups. In a time when so many businesses fail, we want to highlight the triumphant stories, and allow the founders/CEOs/CTOs to disclose their own secrets to success.

Come for networking, business insights, face-to-face time with our speakers and other local tech professionals, and free food! (After all, who doesn’t like free food?)

The event is sponsored and hosted by Benjamin’s Desk.

Benjamin's Desk is the Epicenter of Innovation in Philadelphia. We are a co-working space for mobile professionals, entrepreneurs and startups located at 1701 Walnut Street in the heart of Rittenhouse Square. Our flexible memberships, state-of-the-art workspace and conference room, and diverse community of members will take your business to the next level. Our premier event space is the most unique venue in Center City offering the latest in technology and an experiential environment suitable for any occasion. www.benjaminsdesk.com | [masked].

We hope to see you all there!

Event Schedule:

6:00-7:00: Networking with our speakers and other tech enthusiasts. Free food and drinks provided by Shawnee Craft Brewing

7:00-8:00: 15 minute demos and presentations from all of our speakers

8:00-8:30: Panel-style Q&A so you have a chance to ask all of your burning startup questions!

Speakers:

Tim Raybould | President of TicketLeap

Tim took over running TicketLeap in February, after serving as the Company's CFO for 4 years. Under Tim, TicketLeap is putting a premium on innovation and shaking things up in the event ticketing market. They recently announced their first ever event, called CREATE, taking place in November. Along with the event announcement, TicketLeap is offering a sneak peek at a brand new event page design that they're working on. Check it out (and buy a ticket!) at events.ticketleap.com/create-philly.

Prior to TicketLeap, Tim Co-founded a site to help track your frequent flyer miles and hotel points in one spot. He built the site, along with his co-founder, by moonlighting as he spent his day job doing M&A due diligence for PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Tim and his wife have 3 kids (all girls!) 5 and under.

Ted Mann | Founder and CEO of SnipSnap

Ted is the Founder and CEO SnipSnap, the first mobile app to let consumers save printed coupons to their smartphone and redeem in store. The company was started at the DreamIt Ventures accelerator in Philadelphia and launched in May 2012. It quickly grew to become one of the top mobile coupon apps, with 1.75 million users, who have snipped 25 million coupons and saved $100 million.

Prior to starting SnipSnap, Ted was Digital Development Director at Gannett, where he led development of the company's first hyperlocal network, daily deal websites, and blog operations, in addition to managing the core news websites. Ted began his time in the news industry as a writer and editor, having worked for publications including The Atlantic Monthly, The Journal News, and InTown Magazine.

Ryan Findley | Founder of Neomind Labs

Ryan Findley wrote his first made-to-order software application in the early 1990's and has been building and integrating custom solutions ever since. In 2002, as Ryan was preparing to graduate from Drexel, he faced the entrepreneur's dilemma of accepting a full time job or teaming up with an old friend to start a business of their own. Thus, Neomind Studios was formed.

In 2007, Ryan's co-founder left Neomind Studio to start a SaaS company and Neomind Studios was reborn as Neomind Labs. Under Ryan's guidance, Neomind now specializes in software excellence using Ruby on Rails. Neomind builds and maintains software systems for clients in the United States that serve a global audience of customers. Neomind works with academic and medical institutions, start-ups, Fortune 100, and non-profit companies. Ryan was recently named one of the Philly Business Journal's Top IT Pros at a private company.

Ross Shanken | Founder and CEO of LeadiD

Throughout his career, Ross has been a technology thought leader & business-builder. For 13 years, Ross was part of a 5-member Executive Management team that led TARGUSinfo to a $650M exit in 2011. During his tenure at TARGUSinfo, Ross witnessed firsthand the stresses that existed between Lead Sellers and Lead Buyers, and with the help of industry veterans, created a dialogue around the vision of LeadiD. Ross decided to dedicate his resources to LeadiD, which he founded in January, 2011, with the singular purpose of creating a trusted environment for Lead Sellers and Lead Buyers to operate.

Outside of work, Ross is a devoted husband and father of three and an occasional marathon runner.

Manny Wald | CTO of LeadiD

Over the last decade, Manny has been active in the information technology sector creating innovative solutions for businesses in the financial services, real estate, healthcare, education, and insurance industries. Manny has a background in business intelligence, application development, data warehousing, web services, and building tools to manage transactional and analytical information. Additionally, Manny invented a system to protect the intellectual property rights of content owners that manages the entire copyright infringement lifecycle by identifying infringing material online, monitoring and providing analysis of infringing activity, producing evidence used in federal litigation, and reducing online piracy levels.

I figure this is a long shot but I'm doing a project and have some questions on SQL query structure. If you're a SQL guru and have 15 minutes to spare, either before or after the meetup, reply to this and I'll find you. Thanks!

Hey Ian, I can help you with your SQL questions. Let's meet 15 min before the meetup. Note that every comment here spams the entire meetup group so please reach out to me on twitter at @Zugwalt for further communication / ironing out details.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
