Don't code alone. Get involved. Meet new people.

It's the first Noob-athon at the San Jose Learning Center! This free event will consist of two parts.

Part 1: Rob Meyer, Senior Software Developer at Expedia will first discuss bridging the gap between school and entering the workforce. He will then discuss how one becomes a successful programmer.

Part 2: This event is open Java beginners. Attendees will break into groups and be given a test program. Teams will collaboratively write the class. Experienced users will be on hand to answer questions and help ease the transition from noob to rook. The main objective of this event is to learn with other enthusiastic newbies.

Stop by for both parts, or only to hear Rob Meyer's talk. Hope to see you there!

Date: Sunday, June 3, 2012

Time: 11 AM - 5 PM

Must bring: laptop for Part 2

Feel free to bring: drinks and snacks (just be ready to clean up after yourself).

This event is a trial event to gauge the interest level for this type of workshop. If there is enough interest I will organize more of these in San Francisco and San Jose.

San Jose Learning Center is a professional place where adults can take language, fitness and special interest classes during the evenings and weekends. The 2-story facility is located minutes from downtown San Jose and just off the 280 and 87 freeways; also, walking distance from San Jose Diridon Caltrain station. SJLC only hires quality instructors with experience in teaching classes in a fun and effective manner. Our small class sizes allow for important one-on-one interaction with the instructors and other classmates.

This event has no official connection to Expedia.
