Indie Videogame Night, with Uken Games, Asteroid Base, and Health Pack Games

Tech in Motion is happy to announce our second Toronto event: an indie gaming demo night. Our city has an awesome and talented gaming development community, and we're happy to bring a few of these companies together to talk about their companies, and showcase new work. Come grab a beer on Molson, grab some food, and test out some great new games!

6:30-7:00PM: Drinks and networking

7:00-7:15PM: Uken Games talk on their new development, Bingo Pop

7:15-7:30PM: Asteroid Base discuss the forming of their company, and their current project, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime

7:30-8:30PM: Individual demoing and testing

Uken is one of the only true cross platform gaming companies around. We build fun social and mobile games that make people stare, smile, jump, and feel awesome inside. We have a culture that fosters creativity, collaboration, quality ideas, and a data driven mindset. We believe in moving quickly and improving constantly and that mantra is reflected in the weekly updates we make to our games and internal technologies. We have an appetite for pushing technical boundaries and we’ve done exactly that with HTML5. We work on products that are used by millions of people everywhere and we’re just getting started.

Asteroid Base Inc. was founded by Creative Director Matt Hammill, Technical Director Adam Winkels, and Producer Jamie Tucker. The team first started working together in 2011, participating in Toronto game jams such as TOJam and Global Game Jam. Originally conceived as a loose-knit collective of developers, they have since formalized the relationship in February 2013 by incorporating, and are now moving forward as a business. To date they have released one freeware PC game, the 4player ninja skydiving action game Shuriken Skies. They are currently working on their first commercial game, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime.

Health Pack Games is a multi-platform mobile game development company. In just two years, we've been able to reach #1 spots in over 11 countries on the Windows Phone marketplace with over 3.2 million downloads. Our games include cross-platform achievements, use created content and hundreds of levels. We'll talk about our new cross-platform engine, and our upcoming game: Monster Stack 3.
