Ford’s OpenXC platform is the first open source automotive platform that allows you to develop apps for your automobile. More precisely, OpenXC connects to your car through the OBD-II data port, and with a system of open source hardware and software, it draws and descrambles rich sensor data from your car’s digital core. For the very first time, you can pull data out of the awesome array of sensors and computers built into your vehicle!

Think of the huge amount of data ready to be harnessed from your automobile’s sensors: super-precise rate of speed, steering wheel angle, accelerator pedal position, engine torque... the list goes on. With OpenXC, you can listen to the information coming off the cars main computer and develop hardware modules and software apps to interface with your vehicle. OpenXC is a powerful new way to speak your car’s language.

Day 2 10:00 am - 4:00 pm OpenXC Developer workshop. Lunch provided.

Registration is open the the general public, 16 years and older. Membership to TechShop is not required to attend this workshop.

Please note: This workshop utilizes TechShop’s equipment but all shop rules still apply – unless you have already passed the required safety course(s), you will not be operating the machine, your instructor will. This is not a Safety and Basic Use (SBU) class – you may NOT use TechShop's equipment without passing the associated Safety and Basic Use class.
