What Arduino gifts have you bought yourself? I found a deal on the Teensy 3.1 with an Audio I/O daughtercard from PJRC (boiught two, the limit); I also bought a 6-pack of Trinkets ((3) 3.3v, (3) 5v), and a pair of 5v Trinket Pro with the LiPo/USB power daughtercard. I'm still looking for some small Arduino, which can speak SPI, but still have a few I/O leftover. The application will be using the Nordic RF24L01 (or similar) RF modem boards. Any suggestions?

I picked up some of the Spark IO Ardunio/WiFi modules for $19. Now all that I have to do is to wait till March when they start shipping.

A Mac will also work fine. You will need a USB port (so, MacBook Air is not a good choice...). The Microsoft Surface Pro is a good portable PC with USB, and works fine with the Arduino IDE.

The Arduino IDE runs great (or at lease the same) on Windows, Mac, and Linux. I have even gotten it to run on the NVIDIA Jetson board with no issues. The IDE is written in Java.
