Dear Biotech Enthusiasts,

Rescheduling the meetup. The event was suppose to be on Erev Purim but was rescheduled. Thank you for those who brought it to my attention.

You are invited to the FIRST Biotech meetup on Tuesday, March 10th at 18:00 at CITI Innovation Lab TLV which is located on Kiryat Atidim Building 8 3rd floor (2158 St).

At the event Dr. Amit Kessel will talk about Es-Is Technologies that he co-founded. Dr. Kessel will talk about the science behind Es-Is and will share his experience with the Israeli biotech scene.

If you have questions/topics that you would like Dr. Kessel to address, feel free to email them to me. If relevant, they will be covered. I am reachable here: kerenweiser@gmail.com

Have a speaker in mind for next events? Feel free to contact me

*Small note: The name of the meetup will be changed soon

About Es-Is:

Es-is Technologies was raised in 2012 to develop efficient and inexpensive enzymatic syntheses of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The API market is big ($ 35 B/y) and highly competitive; pharmaceutical companies are constantly seeking new patentable syntheses that do not infringe any existing patent, and which reduce API production costs. APIs are normally produced by multi-step chemical processes, which are both expensive and polluting due to the use of metal catalysts and organic solvents. A highly desired alternative is the use of enzymatic syntheses, which are cheaper and
cause minimal pollution. However, while there are thousands or natural known enzymes, using them for the synthesis of specific non-natural molecule is far from being trivial. The aim of Es-is was to design a computational platform for the fast identification of natural enzymes for such syntheses, as
well as for their design and optimization. The methodology behind this platform was successfully used by Es-is to design enzymatic syntheses of three pharmaceutical key intermediates. These syntheses were patented and are currently marketed.

Thank you CITI Innovation Lab for hosting the event
