Greetings from LA Tennis 2012
60 Reasons to get out on the Tennis courts
LA Tennis was created to bring you the total tennis experience for all levels of play with monthly events of challenging mixed round robins doubles and singles. Further your tennis experience by joining our small group clinics or private instruction with the group’s very own USPTR Tennis professional. Beyond just tennis, explore your health/fitness with our very own Certified Personal Trainer and Registered Dietitian. Additional offerings could include monthly dinner gatherings, the Fountain Theatre or even a Hollywood Bowl night. In an effort to keep our tennis group dynamic, consider a wide range of events from Beach Tennis in Playa Del Rey, to grass and clay courts on a weekend getaway. The sky is the limit, so little time, so many options. We strive to give you a full tennis Club experience, minus the costly monthly dues, mandatory food bills and the valet parking.
I’m a PTR certified tennis instructor and have worked for the Beverly Hills CC as a tennis Event/Marketing consultant over the past two years, (see TennisWithDave.com). I currently share relevant insight, knowledge and experience as a high school tennis coach and full time private tennis instructor. I’ve also been the organizer for three tennis Meet Up groups and hosted on average two tennis events a month since 09 with over 600 members coming and going. We’ve learned a few things about MeetUp members over the past three years.
1) In the past only 1 in 6 new members ever joined us on the courts (thanks for trying)
2) Beginners need a place to start and feel comfortable (come to our clinics)
3) You can’t please everyone………we tried
We are very clear about the members we want starting in 2012; we want that 1 person in 6 comfortable coming out to play, meeting new players and sharing their joy of the game. We’ve learned the levels of play on a given day won’t always be ideal but, we’ll try to make it work in the big picture with select pairings adjustments or offering specific player level events from beginners to advanced players.
Starting in 2012 we’re charging an initial membership fee of $60.00. We know most of you will opt for the many other non fee tennis groups and we understand, we are not for everyone (only the committed players looking no drama). Most of our tennis events are two hours long, we provide the new balls. The cost per event is generally 15.00 dollars depending on the court rental fees; we also host free events when possible. Our main court locations will be the Cheviot Hills Tennis Center, Vermont Canyon Tennis, Balboa in the Valley and select private courts around the city.
We understand this group is only for the select few finding value in our offerings. It’s time to move your tennis from a good thought to becoming pro active regular player. I hope to see you out on the courts and know we respect your time and want you to stay fit and healthy. We’ll try our best to make the tennis offerings work in your life and ours, remember, tennis is a lifestyle.
