Details
You know all about our great National Monuments, right? The Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial, The National Monument to the Forefathers.
What?
You don't know about The National Monument to the Foregathers? (OK, maybe it's not really not a federal "National Monument" as understood today from the Antiquities Act of 1906, but it is on the National Register of Historic Places.)http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/b/8/5/8/event_85247192.jpeg
New member Chrissy Sparrow will be telling us all about this little know monument located in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Chrissy will be showing segments from a video called KEEPING FAITH: The National Monument to the Forefathers, A Guided Tour of one of America's National Treasures. The tour is given by Dr. Paul Jehle, Executive Director of the Plymouth Rock Foundation. (Dr Jehle is also the Pastor at The New Testament Church in Plymouth, MA. He delivered the opening prayer at the 8-28 Restoring Honor Rally in Washingon, DC.) The video will provide historical background and meaning of the monument, including: Faith, Morality, Law, Education and Liberty.
Chrissy will also tell us about an upcoming movie/documentary by Kirk Cameron about The National Monument to the Forefathers, called Monumental: In Search of America's National Treasure.
She will wrap up with information about a short children's book called Molly's Promise to Faith by Mary Cushing, which is a story about finding "Faith" and restoring her to her rightful home which is on top of the monument.
But that's not all...
Following Chrissy's presentation, we will also offer time to local, state or federal candidates who will be appearing on the ballot in the March Primary to address our members.
Don't miss this meeting. You will learn about a great piece of American history and get to talk with local candidates!
