Join us at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 5th as Alan Uthoff presents "Introduction to the QT Framework using C++ and QML."
The Qt framework has a long history and a large code base with many modules.We will go over briefly the history of QT and how you can harness this fantastic framework to make your C++ apps easier and faster to develop. We will go over the main QT modules, signals & slots, QT’s Meta-Object-Compiler (moc), and also so talk briefly about how to use QML with your C++ code. It's a fantastic framework to make great cross platform C++ applications easily and painlessly.
Alan Uthoff is a lead developer at GameSalad Inc. in Austin. He has been in the game industry since 2003, having worked, both officially and unofficially, in virtually every position in the game world at both indie studios and traditional studios such as EA, Origin, and Multimedia Games Inc. He has been programming professionally in C++ for over 9 years. In his free time he works on developing his open-source graphics engine, which was used by an indie studio to submit a game demo to Microsoft, and his latest project, an open-source joystick library. He belongs to several professional Meetup groups and organizes and runs the GameSalad Meetup group. He enjoys games from the aspect of both a player and a creator and takes great pleasure in creating technology that helps others make their dreams of creating games a reality.
The talk will take place at Rackspace's Austin office, located on the East side of IH-35 right before Rundberg and after Henna Chevrolet (there is a sign for Rackspace which is visible from the highway). Feel free to park in the same lot as the big Rackspace flag.
