Please join us at Mr. Chan's for great food and stimulating conversation! Our group welcomes anyone who is interested in talking about any aspect of the vegan or veg lifestyle, including health, food preparation, compassion for animals, spirituality, activism, ecology, and more.

Our meetings have been fun, lively, and supportive. Mr. Chan has a wonderful selection of vegan menu options, probably the most of any Baltimore area restaurant. Try the vegan chocolate mousse for dessert!! Mmmmm good! Mr. Chan is located on Reisterstown Road across the street from the old Pikes Theatre. There is often street parking available. And there is free parking behind the restaurant, and a public parking area adjacent to that lot.

Meetup attendees get an opportunity each month to tell us a litlle about themselves: where they are from; what got them interested in the vegan lifestyle; their personal interests; some way(s) that the group might support them; some success stories; or some discussion or debating points on diet and lifestyle.

And please check out the monthly Earthsave Veg Dinner Ed Series events that are normally held on the last Saturday from 6-9 pm at Learning Center of Your Prescription for Health, 10210 S. Dolfield Rd. in Owings Mill, MD, 21117. The dinners are vegan and often attract a group of 40-70 attendees. It's a great place to meet friendly, like-minded, supportive people. The educational presentations have been excellent! And the dish you prepare just might win you an award! For more information, see Hope to see you there!

You may also want to check out the Baltimore Vegetarian Meetup group, which is very similar to this one, but meets on the first Sunday, at 12.30 pm, at Cafe Zen in Belvedere Square, near Towson. To register for those meetings, go to We think you will enjoy the great food and atmosphere, like-minded people, and lively, casual conversation. Hope to see you soon! charges each group organizer for the great services they provide. A donation of $1 per meeting will help cover these costs and would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hope to see you soon!

Would be good to occasionally experience some of the many vegan low fat, no-oil recipes that are out there as well that may be more fusion than Asian. Mr. Chan's is great but there's not much of a chance of me replicating the dishes at home.

Actually, I didn't like the tempeh with brown sauce that I ordered at Mr. Chan's. I prepare tempeh dishes at home and was really disappointed in my restaurant selection.

Also, there are folks from south of Baltimore attending as well. Has anyone tried the Mango Grove in Columbia?

I have done a mini-gathering at a secondary location with group members by doing a "suggest a meetup". It worked out well.

I live south of Baltimore (Crofton) and would prefer a closer location.

A smaller crowd, which I prefer, made it easier to meet and talk with others.
    Good food.

Perhaps Don can ask for a show of hands on changing up the venue every few months.

It seems that Mr. Chan's is still quite popular, so what I'm thinking of doing is keeping the Vegan Meetup at that location and moving the Veg Meetup gatherings to Mango Grove in Columbia. Veg Meetup normally meets on Sunday at 12:30 pm. How does that sound?

Wegman's in Hunt Valley would be a great place to meet on a Wednesday evening. Lots of empty tables. plenty hot and cold vegan choices at their food bars. Maybe an alternative to Mr. Chan's???

i think going to the same place every month gets boring. there are some who have had every dish on the vegan menu. i don't think there's anything wrong with changing up the restaurant every now and then. there are many good vegan places out there that we could be experiencing.
