Baltimore Whole Food Plant-Based Meetup

Hi All,
As a result of inspiration from Don Robertson, longtime vegan and
registered dietitian Mark Rifkin has started the Baltimore Whole Foods
Plant-Based Meetup. Each event is held at a different restaurant
around the area. Each event also features a presentation and
discussion around a specific topic in nutrition and health; members can
suggest topics to be covered. In January, our topic is "Vaccinate
Yourself Against Colds and Flu---No Needle Needed!"

At this time of year, medical and government authorities constantly
remind us to get vaccinated against the flu, but fail to remind us how
effective a few simple lifestyle measures (beyond handwashing) can be to
prevent infection. If immune-compromised people are more likely to get
infected, then it's only logical that people who take care to protect
their immune system are less likely to get infected. Meanwhile, many
people are rightly concerned about adverse side effects of vaccines and
their ingredients, such as antibiotics and chemical preservatives. While
those same authorities downplay the risks, their credibility is
challenged by the mere presence of the government's Vaccine Adverse
Event Reporting System (VAERS). Additionally, most flu vaccines contain
animal tissue, and are not vegan. Whether you choose to vaccinate or
not, protecting your immune system is the best way to avoid infection.
Learn six ways to protect yourself against colds and flu----no needles
needed! We will meet at Akbar Palace in Randallstown, which has an
extensive vegan menu section---and free parking!
