Day hiking on the Superior Hiking & Border Route Trails

The scheduled date is based on whether the snow is gone and the Otter and Jackson Lake Roads are functional.

This will be a three day trip with a two day BRT only option for those not wanting to take Friday off. We'll camp at the McFarland Lake Campground and hike with day packs. Expect a reasonably vigorous pace over rather rugged terrain. In other words, you'll need to be in good physical condition. The benefit to all of this exercise is that you'll experience spectacular scenery on all three days.

The plan is to hike 10 miles of the Superior Hiking Trail from the Arrowhead Trail (Cook Co. 16) through to the Andy Lake Road on Friday. Hike 9 miles of the Border Route Trail from Otter Lake Trailhead through to the McFarland Lake Trailhead on Saturday. And last but not least, 5.3 miles of the BRT from the Otter Lake Trailhead to the Swamp River Trailhead on Sunday.

The trip cost/deposit of $35/person will include the cost of food and beverages from Friday breakfast through Sunday lunch.

Please note that we will hold your spot on this trip for one week after you've RSVP'd yes. After that time period it will not be guaranteed until such time as we receive your deposit. The transportation costs of approximately $35 to $50 will be determined by the individual car pools and paid to the owner of the vehicle.
