Boston Amazon Web Services Meetup Group

Topic will be a presentation by Extreme Reach on their current utilization of Amazon Web Services; what they use, why they use it, and the lessons learned along the way. General discussion and Q&A are invited. Presentation to be provided by Daniel Brackett, CTO, Extreme Reach.

    Missed the meeting but have an AWS question. We use Security Groups/Rules to control access to our instances...but the rules are based on fixed ip addresses. How do we handle access from our laptop at a coffee shop (where the address is different each time)? I don't want to edit the rules each time...is there another way (two factor authentication? credentials? rules based on mac address?) Any ideas would be welcome, thanks.

      We are putting a proxy server into place for some protected web applications until they are released into the public. Otherwise we have a jump/bridge server(s) that we use to for direct ssh access to all our AWS resources along with a corporate VPN.

      We have a script that edits the SG rules to add the public IP of the machine and start the SSH connection. The change takes effect quickly, so it doesn't delay much.
