Willoughby and Baltic's Hackerspace (map)
At our February meetup, we'll take a look at Air Muscles, their use and application. We'll also have materials there so you can take a stab at making your own.
Air muscles use compressed air to expand and contract a balloon-like device to create an extremely powerful lift mechanism.
This event is open to Willoughby and Baltic and Boston Robotics meetup members. There is no cost for this event.
I think working in small groups would be the best way to accomplish something by the summer.
I really liked the idea of the art bots. We hadn't come up with a way to say who "won" but I liked the idea of bot1 busily trying to draw a pattern while bot2 erases it while bot3 copies it in a different color and bot4 goes off and copies it somewhere else in the space. We end up with something we can display somewhere.
Definitely glad I went (even though I was late... sorry)

Are there any tools and/or materials that'd be helpful for making air muscles? I put a small compressor in my trunk, just in case, along with some misc. pneu fittings. I'm especially interested in learning about how air muscles can be controlled. See you there! -- Larry
