****ATTENTION : the starting/ gathering time = the time you are expected at the starting point in Nijmegen

Starting point at the main entrance of Nijmegen Central train station where you can also rent a bike (downstairs - OV and other types of bikes).

We will start in the southern side of the Waal River, very close to the Waalbrug Bridge. We are going to cycle 6 km through the Oude Waal, Landen and Bizonbaai lakes until we reach Oortjehekken café (possible to have a 20 mn break there).

Then we are going to cycle 8 km close to the river and Kaliwaal lake until we reach Theetuin where we will stop for 1 hour or so for lunch and visit the garden. (Please bring your own food otherwise it will take too much time to order. 5 euros for entrance – including one drink). The garden has different types of plants and flowers as well as an interesting style. Small but worth-visiting!

A few hundred meters after, we will take the Veerpointje (ferry) to cross the river and get off on the northern side of the Waal (1,40 euros per person).

Then we are going to cycle 6 km along the Waaldijk Street with view on Gendtse; countryside area with small lakes, cattle, horses etc. We are going to choose a nice place to sit for a short break of 15 mn.

The last break will be 6 km later, at Spokkelenburg Café with a nice view on the Waal River.

Last 4 km cycling, we take the Waalbrug Bridge and arrive at the starting point.

A city bike would do the job. However be careful on the track of 1 km or so before Theetuin. In all cases it is good to bring a small repair box in case of.
