Three-thinkers business club - Focus on Bitcoin

This month we’re starting the meeting with a talk on the digital currency Bitcoin, by Graham Lally, founder of the Bitcoin Brighton group and a Bitcoin enthusiast since 2010. We’ll be looking at how this technology may affect your business and how it could potentially disrupt the current financial system.

After the presentation we’ll move onto our facilitated brainstorming sessions where you’ll have the chance to get the group working on any business ideas, opportunities or issues you want to discuss. You’ll come away with specific solutions and actions for your business and also the satisfaction of having helped others with their ideas too.

The Three-thinkers is for values-led businesses who want to collaborate to build their businesses and a better economy. The club meets in Brighton on the first Tuesday of every other month.

The common bond of members is their commitment to a three-thinking economy where transactions are undertaken with a consideration of impact across the three value areas of people, planet and profit.

Massive thank you to everyone who came along tonight - it was great to have such a varied, positive debate on a pretty complex topic!

The slides are available online, and you can download as PDF/Powerpoint from the menu bar at the bottom of them:

I'm putting together some links for further introductory resources now, and will send round in a bit.

Cheers Robin. I think the important thing that Bitcoin brings is that verification becomes an issue when it _needs_ to be, rather than out of convenience. So for instance, I can order something anonymously if I need to (such as secure web hosting for whistleblowers), but on the other hand I need to provide a lot of proof-of-identity documents for various exchange sites (social network logins, scans of passports, etc). "Understanding your customer" gets turn on its head though.

Why I don't believe a 'Bit coin' has any future. To understand one needs to study why. You guys will LOVE this documentary (part 1 of 5) . . .

Having studied the creation of money and invested in silver for a few years I'm looking forward to contributing my findings and hearing those of others. It's crucial every one positions their finances to be safe over the next few months or two years as the fall of the American dollar is definitely coming which currently backs around 80% of the worlds other currencies. Lots to talk about !
