CityCamp 3 - making Brighton a better place to live

Hi all,

Just a quick note to say that the third CityCamp Brighton is happening 22-24 march, venue TBC.

If you're not familiar with CityCamp, it's basically a weekend of hacking (in the broadest sense) together ideas to make Brighton a better place to live.

We aim to get people from the community and voluntary, public and private sectors - a mix of digital and not-so-digital.

We kick things off with some inspirational speakers on Friday afternoon - in the past we've had Dan McQuillan, Will McInnes, Emer Coleman, Anthony Mayfield and Benita Matofska. We're still putting our line-up together, and if you have any suggestions, please do post them here.

The Saturday and Sunday are run as unconference/Open Space style sessions where anyone can pitch an idea, people can self-organise into teams, then take it as far as they can to pitch back at the end of the weekend.

In previous years the ideas that came about at CityCamp have turned into real projects, that are still going now and one of which is now employing someone (Gig Buddies)

Anyway - this seems like a very appropriate place to spread the word! If you've any questions or want to get involved in some way, let me know.

Great stuff. It would be cool to see some Brightoneers pitching ideas and working together.

That would be awesome - also, we get loads of people from across the city who have an idea, but might not have the confidence or skills (technical, design, creative, organisation) and need some help.

One of the great things that people like the Brightoneers can do is inspire others to take that first step towards action - CityCamp is a fantastic opportunity to do that for/with loads of really lovely people.
