I decided to start this group because I'm a mom who works full-time from home, but i'm also a full time mommy. It's difficult enough juggling motherhood, and trying to find time to meet other moms and have a social life and support, but with the additional strain of a full time job, we often find ourselves stuck in the house working, and when not working tending to our babies, which can be isolating. There are traditional stay at home mom groups, but those can sometimes be difficult to attend (because we need to work around work schedules) and while we deal with many of the same issues as those stay at home moms, we're also struggling with the work/life balance and everything else that comes with working from home.
The purpose of this group then is to provide a social life and a support system for those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to earn a living while staying at home with our babies, but also struggling with what that comes with - two full time jobs (which sometimes feels like 10). I hope this group can be an outlet for some adult time (though i'm sure we'll need to bring the little ones when we need to) where we can make friends, commiserate, work around each other's crazy schedules, get our social lives back, and maybe have time to grab coffee, go on dates with our spouses, have a playgroup once in a while, etc. Something to bust up the routine of being tied to our home offices, dreaded computer, and cell phones, or the baby's crib, rocking chair, etc. Strollers are ok if they take us somewhere fun!
If you live in or around Brooklyn Heights, NY, and you're a work from home mom who is looking to meet others just like you facing the same struggles, but also looking to meet great friends in your boat, then this is the group for you. Please join and we can schedule some meetups (around our crazy schedules of course). My hope is that once we all get to know each other, aside from regular meetups doing fun things around the neighborhood with and without the kids (depending on the preference), we can also have someone to call when we need to "get out of the office", just hang out with another adult, or let our kids play together while we get our work done.
