I will be holding auditions for a staged reading (book in hand) of King Lear with the long range goal of forming a core group to take King Lear to parks, schools and libraries in the tri-state area. I will be holding auditions over the the next few weeks. I expect the first staged reading to be sometime in April in Manhattan. I expect the first performance (memorized) to take place summer/fall of 2015.

All roles are open and I will direct.

There is no pay for the staged reading. However, we will be exploring funding to pay the actors for the parks, libraries and school performances.

Our first audition will be Wednesday February 25th from 5pm-9pm. If you wish to audition, please indicate your availability between 5pm and 9pm and the role/s in which you are interested. Please note I will be doubling some roles.

Ideally, you will have prepared a monologue from King Lear or other Shakespearean monologue. If you have not prepared a monologue, you may still audition but be prepared to read Act I, scene 1 and Act II, scene 4.

Actors interested in the role of Edmund should expect to do the "Thou Nature are my Goddess," --preferably memorized or --with book in hand. Actors interested in the Fool should prepare a Shakespearean comedic monologue and be prepared to read with Lear and Kent in the first Fool scene.

If you have a picture/resume please bring it to the audition.

Peace,

James
