What do you write?

As a former film company executive, I started writing feature articles, film and book reviews for DOCUMENTARY magazine. I have an MFA from Boston University, my first career was as an artist and returning to my earlier roots, I now also write exhibition reviews and features for Art New England, and am the Art Editor for Mud Season Review, the BWW journal. Most recently I have joined Vermont Woman Magazine as a Contributing Writer. I began blogging in 2003, which led to what is now my unpublished memoir. My focus is essay, commentary and creative non-fiction.

What's your favorite subject to write about?

I have no favorite subject...anything can trigger the urge to write, but it all grows out of actual, lived experience.

Who is your favorite author?

That depends...so the list is long and varied. In no particular order; John Updike, Margaret Atwood, E.O. Wilson, Joan Didion, Rebecca Goldstein, Jared Diamond...

If you could meet any dead writer, who would it be?

Nelson Algren, I recently discovered him through a friend of mine who is working on a documentary film about his life.

What do you hope to achieve in your work?

Everything I might say here seems like a cliché. Connecting emotionally and intellectually with a broad audience is probably every writers goal, and it is also my own.

Introduction

After several long and productive careers in the arts I am currently a contributing editor for DOCUMENTARY Magazine, writer for Art New England, Vermont Woman and Art Editor for the literary journal, Mud Season Review.
