MY FAIR LADY (Steampunk version) @ Front Row Centre

Show runs November 8th - 23rd, 2013 - we've picked Sat Nov 16

Beddington Heights Community Arts Centre (a short drive north of downtown)

Book and Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner

Music by Frederick Loewe

Adapted from George Bernard Shaw's Play and Gabriel Pascal's motion picture PYGMALION

Stage Direction by Jamie Eastgaard-Ross

Musical Direction by Danielle Wahl

Choreography by Danielle Desmarais

Misogynistic and snobbish Professor Henry Higgins takes a bet from Colonel Pickering that he can transform unrefined, dirty Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a lady, and make her presentable in high society. Eliza is willing to try, but will she prove too much for his machinations? Over several months Henry puts her through a grueling concoction of phonetics and posture, but is there some chemistry between them that perhaps he didn't precipitate?

Based on the 1912 play Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, and featuring such memorable tunes as, "I Could Have Danced All Night", "The Rain in Spain", "Get Me to the Church on Time" and "On The Street Where You Live", this steampunk re-envisioning of My Fair Lady is sure to leave you dancing all night.

Wouldn't it be Loverly?

Tickets are $25. If you buy through me to sit with the group, with service fees, that comes to $27.50. I will buy tickets as people pay, although at this point seating is limited so be aware you won't be sitting with the group (it's a small theatre so not a big deal). You may pay by Paypal through this site (easiest), through interbank transfer to my email at [masked], by cash or cheque. If you don't mind sitting on your own, go ahead and buy your own tickets.

Super show - costumes set - and particular the two main leads. And the steampunk element was an added bonus.

Lynn - hope you didn't buy me a ticket as I get a senior rate which I told you about previously.

I think I mentioned this already, I have NOT bought you a ticket, but do look for us if you're coming the same night

Hi, I have a ticket in the same row. Will be there as long as there's no blizzard tomorrow! Carol

Given that tomorrow is the RSVP date on this, I went ahead and said yes. I'd rather keep the possibility open than close it (and forfeit the cost of the ticket instead). My Fair Lady is probably my most favourite musical of all, so I really really want to go. That said, I don't want to make myself ill. I'm staring at a very hectic week and don't know what condition I'll be in come Saturday (I teach a class 9 to 4 on Saturday as well).

Hi Lissa - I just bought you the last ticket in our row - just a couple of seats over from the group. Seating is limited for this show as it is, so there's a good chance it will sell out. For popular shows on popular nights it is worth committing ahead. As usual if it turns out you can't make it, let me know and I'll see if I can find a taker.

Turns out Lissa can't go now. Can someone else use her ticket?

Hi Lynn, just a heads up, i received a confirmation in my email for MFL. As mentioned in my previous email i've already booked for another day. I will keep my eyes peeled for other shows posted and look forward to meeting yourself and the group in the near future.

Joy, if you don't withdraw your RSVP's you'll get a confirmation like everyone else. I'll remove you from the RSVP list now that I know you're going a different night. Enjoy.

Hi Lynn, just checking, have I paid you for this yet?

    November 3, 2013

    • carol

I'm buying my own ticket and will try to sit close to you. Where are your seats? Carol

Hi, I'm curious about steampunk, and every once in a while I need something mushy and romantic! Will be leaving the family at home this time so wheelchair tickets not necessary.
