POSSIBLE DISCOUNT! CALGARY FRINGE FESTIVAL (Various Shows, July 31-Aug 8)

YES! Calgary has a Fringe Festival too!!! This annual festival includes a wide variety of short works, including many with music. The performers get in by lottery so you never know what you'll get, and some shows will be definitely off- beat, but I've found there are more hits than misses. I produced my first musical, Eve: The True Story, there in 2008 and hope to produce my next musical there (working title: It Seemed Like a Bad Idea At the Time) in 2016.

Since there are lots of shows, rather than listing specific ones, I suggest people just indicate in the comments section below what show(s) they might be interested in, and organize amongst ourselves when to go.

For popular shows, it's worth getting tickets in advance (prices are $10-$15). I have five two-for-one coupons from the Entertainment coupon booklet I'm willing to share - some of you may have these as well.

Otherwise, you can generally just show up and get tickets at the door of each theatre or at the central box office at 12th St and 9th Ave SE. The August long weekend is a good time to take it in, since there aren't a lot of people around and you can tie it in with the Inglewood Sunfest street festival on Satuday.

And the Late Night Cabaret is always fun. If you want to go risk-free or don't have time to go down often, the Best of Fest shows on the final day are a good bet.
