Greetings fellow Cogs. The CSA rules have been revised to reflect the changes in the group as we expand our presence. Please take some time to review them.


[b]Calgary Steampunk Assemblage Rules & Conduct[/b]

The following are the basic rules governing membership of the Calgary Steampunk Assemblage and their conduct. It is advised all members remain up to date on these regulations, and ensure for guests, new members, the public, and old members alike that the positive image of the group is upheld.

The CSA Management reserves the right to revoke membership and/or eject any members or guests that violate these rules, and/or conduct themselves in a manner deemed unfitting of participation in the group.

These rules encompass all meetups, events where the CSA is present, the discussion forums, and any websites beneath the Calgary Steampunk Assemblage banner.

[b]1. Membership[/b]
Membership to the CSA is open to any who wish to join. All potential members are accepted following a review by group organizers. Events hosted by the CSA are open to all members, potential members, and guests, provided they adhere to the rules contained herein and pay any dues required.

[b]2a. Member Conduct[/b]
Participants in group activities found to be disrespectful to other members/potential members/guests, cause purposeful damage to property, or otherwise poorly represent the group in a public setting will be subject to review of their membership. Should it be deemed necessary to revoke a membership the member shall be ejected from the group, paid membership dues will not be refunded, and the member will no longer be welcome at events.

[b]2b. Appeal[/b]
Members ejected from the group may appeal the process after a period of two months. The CSA management will deem whether to readmit the member, or extend their ban from participation.

[b]3a. Participation[/b]
Member participation is key to the continued development and growth of the group. Where noted, costumed participation may be suggested or mandatory. Members are expected to respect these requirements when considering their intended event participation.

[b]3b. Inactivity[/b]
Members deemed to be inactive for a period of two months (inactivity being defined as not logging on to the Meetup website and/or participating in events) will be sent an email notification informing them of their inactivity. Should no response be received, the member's account will be deleted. Members who become inactive are welcome to rejoin when they become able to participate again. This process ensures a current and active member base.

[b]4a. Photography[/b]
Meetups and events are considered to be open public events, and as a costumed group photography is not only welcome but expected and encouraged. As such, members should be aware that they will likely be photographed during their participation in group events. Should members not wish to be photographed, it is their responsibility to ensure they are not present during photo shoots, or inform photographers of their wishes to not be photographed. It will be assumed by CSA management that photos uploaded to the Meetup and/or Facebook pages, and/or tweeted to the Twitter account, adhere to these guidelines and will not be removed unless they are subject to 4b. Members or participants who are under the age of 18+ will not be tagged in photos, and photographs of them require express permission from their legal guardians.

[b]4b. Removal of Photographs[/b]
The management reserves the right to remove any photo deemed inappropriate or in violation of copyright. These decisions are not subject to appeal.

[b]5a. Weaponry and Props[/b]
Weapons and props are a key part of many costumes, but members must keep in mind the legality and practicality of these items. It is the members responsibility to be aware of any laws relating to prop/replica weaponry, and/or any convention rules. Peacebonding (securing realistic looking weapons or props with wire/tape and marking them clearly to allow easy identification) is highly recommended. The management reserves the right at any time to deem a weapon/prop to be inappropriate and require their removal.

[b]5b. Laws & Convention Rules[/b]
The CSA will not assume any responsibility or liability for members who violate any laws or rules set forth by conventions we are attending. Members in violation of convention rules will be subject to a membership review by management. Members who are found to be in violation of any laws will be immediately ejected from the group without appeal.

[b]6a. Media Representation[/b]
The CSA strives to maintain a positive public image through a strong independent brand. As such, any members participating in media (i.e. interviews, films, etc.) do so with the understanding they do not represent the CSA. Any members wishing to speak on behalf of the CSA must first contact CSA management for permission. Members found to be representing themselves as CSA without permission of management will be subject to 2a.

[b]6b. CSA Logos[/b]
All branding and imagery associated with the CSA are for the exclusive use by the CSA. Use by any other than the CSA is not permitted without express consent of the management.
