Trips with this group will include track skiing, gentle logging roads, rolling tours as well as more demanding mountain tour requiring advanced skiing skills and avalanche safety training. It all depends on the conditions and what people are keen on skiing.
I started cross country sking in the Cascades with my father back in the '70s and love getting out and playing the snow. In addition to numerous day trips. I've done week long tours in the Cascades and in Wyoming's Wind River Range. In recent years I've organized some hut trips in the Wallowa Mtn Range of NE Oregon.
I've helped organize the Washington Alpine Club Wednesday night Telemark series at Snoqualmie Pass the last several years. I like helping other get out and enjoy the snow -- plus it gives me a ready made excuse to ski mid-week.
Classic ungroomed road ski. Suitable for sturdier waxless touring skis. One steeper section of the road may require a little side stepping or half herringbone, but climbing skins not needed. Descent skills should include at least a strong snow plow.
8 miles and 1900vft round trip to middle lake. Last half mile to lakes is follows an easy hiking trail.
