Ever wanted to take centre stage? Always dreamed of being an actress or actor? Do you enjoy plays? Who did or didn't you play in your school theatre production? If you missed out then, now here's your chance as a member of The Cast! The curtains have gone up. The spotlight is on you! Enjoy plays? Enjoy acting? Enjoy reading out loud? Like being the centre of attention? Want to make new friends? Want to have fun? If this sounds like you join us every two months where we will be reading some of the most famous and popular plays ever written and where everyone will be playing all of the roles in each one. We will go around the table taking it in turns to read the commentary and the roles. (we want to minimise stage fright) This will keep it flowing and make it fun! We will be reading plays by famous playwrights such as Arthur Miller, Shakespeare, Checkov, David Mamet, Edward Albee, Tom Stoppard, J M Barrie, Agatha Christie, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Harold Pinter and the Greek playwrights such as Sophocles and Euripides. Everyone welcome to join. You don't have to be an aspiring Actor or Actress. The emphasis is on fun! Infact we'll also take pause breaks during reading for sing song or music which features in our plays if reception allows. However joining in the sing songs isn't compulsary (Its' just for fun!) but reading is! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qm4PFcJvLh4 This Meetup is free but everyone is expected to bring along their own copy of the play we are featuring that month. If you're happy to do so but don't want to keep your copy or sell it back and you don't yet own a Kindle it would be very much appreciated if you would donate it to the group so it can be used by other members of The Cast at future Meetups.
I would also like to suggest that if you are unfamiliar with any plays we're featuring, you may want to read the introduction to find out what the play is about. It would create a better atmosphere if we have at least some knowledge of what we're reading and if we really want to go for it, get into character making the whole event much more enjoyable!
Look forward to meeting you and until then as they say...break a leg!
A £2 charge per person per Meetup is now required and very much appreciated towards Organiser Dues which this Meetup pays monthly.
