Buongiorno a tutti!
Summer is officially scheduled! I hope to see you around – after all, tis the season to heat things up!
There are a lot of great social events coming up (remember that you do not have to speak Italian to come to one unless it says that it is an Italiano only event and there is only one of those this summer). You will now also find this summer’s 6 week mini courses on the schedule. Everything is ready for signing up!
1. Social Meet-ups
a. For those wishing to support “Lowcountry Festa Italiana” a separate non for profit group working on bringing an Italian Festival to our area, they have a fund raising dinner coming up this Friday! Find more information and how to get tickets at http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/66031962/
b. Our next official Il Tavolo Italiano event is Saturday, June 30th at La Fontana North. This particular event is important to me, dear to my heart “so to speak”. Chef Gary who owns La Fontana in West Ashley has closed Bella Napoli on Northwoods Blvd and opened instead La Fontana North across the street in a dedicated building. I stopped by Monday and it is beautiful inside. One reason this event is important to me is because every Chef Gary has done for me and our group. He was the first one to suggest and allow us to have workshops in one of his restaurants and now since that time literally 100’s have studied Italian in restaurants around the low country. In addition he suggested some of our current printed material and has given me a lot of encouragement and has helped me to hang in there during some times of struggle. So having said that, I need your help, I would love for us to have a huge turn out so as to say “Good Luck Chef Gary with this new venture – La Fontana North!” – We have over 425 members, it would mean the world to me if we could get a good size group together so as a favor I would like to ask you to come if you can. Besides, the food, wine and environment will be awesome and you will have a lot of fun (as we always do) You find all of the information and RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/69313082/
c. The next event I would like you to consider will be on beautiful Daniel Island on July 14th! I’ll highlight is the next time I write but for now let me say that Meredith has been nothing but awesome since she has joined our group! I love this lady! She is full of energy, positive, studies hard and I have a feeling she is the type that doesn’t like being told she can’t do something. I have to believe getting together at her house will be nothing short of “AWESOME’. I hope you decide to come. RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/65559042/
d. And there are still other great events in addition to these on the calendar! Some are full already, others filling up. You can find them at: http://iltavoloitaliano.com/GroupNews/
2. Learning Italian
a. The new beginner class started last Saturday and what a beautiful group of students we have! We still have a couple of open slots as we did have some “no shows”. If you would like to take our 12 week beginner class, this is your last chance to get in on this one (11 weeks left) after this week we close registration for this class. You can RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/67172802/
b. We now have our “6 week mini courses” online and ready for registration. These classes require a little less study than our normal 12 week courses and are designed to bridge the gap between our Spring and Fall sessions of 12 courses. They are also designed to meet some additional needs like focusing on pronunciation, travel, etc. You can see them all at http://iltavoloitaliano.com/GroupNews/ at the bottom of the page. In the event that we don’t get enough interest we will just by pass these classes and see you in the Fall! This is our first attempt at a summer bridge session so we are interested to see how it goes.
Finally don’t forget, we are looking for talented people. If you sing or play a musical instrument we would love to invite you to join us for some little impromptu jam sessions exploring in particular Italian music of all genres. You do have to be a professional or even proficient, this is about having fun but we can’t do it without adequate interest so if you are interested please email me at [address removed] Please also feel free to email me with any questions about the upcoming workshops/classes. Thank you to all of you who have emailed me already.
I would like to also thank all of you who have inquired about and are considering taking some private one on one tutoring sessions. I love you all and this group gives me hope! You can’t but that.
Don’t forget to let us know what you think about the changes we are making to the site as we make them.
Ci vediamo presto! Grazie a tutti per tutto - Siete veramente belle persone!
