Happy Holidays, fellow Agilists!
While we're all winding down 2011, preparing for the holidays, and (for us in our office) completing redecorating, I thought I would drop you a line letting you know my plans for the Chicago Agile Methodology Group for 2012.
If you want to implement Agile, beyond tools and processes, sound Agile culture is critically important to lasting success. When most people look at the Agile Manifesto, they read the four value pairings and stop there. But the original signers were wise to provide us with principles underlying the manifesto. You may not even have noticed them before, linked off the main web page. But it is crucial to understand them. They give us a roadmap to help implement the Agile values in everyday work.
I am making these underlying principles the basis for our meetup program in 2012. Fortunately, there are 12 of them, so beginning in January 2012, we will have a program each month centered around one of these underlying principles. The program format will differ between the months as appropriate, but my goal for the group is that, by next December, we all have new insight, knowledge, wisdom, tools and tactics to take Agile to the next level wherever we use it.
So please join me to kick off this program in January, with a meetup focused around the Agile principle of "Simplicity." Details will follow in a separate email shortly. We all learn from each other every meetup, so your attendance and participation is important and valued! Hope to see you there.
An my sincere thanks to you all for making this group such a great success over the past 15 months.
Have a happy, safe holiday season and we'll see you in January!
