GAPS Connections

From: Renee R.
Sent on: Monday, November 21, 2011 4:32 PM

Hello,

We want to officially welcome all who attended (or wanted to attend) our first GAPS Connections meeting on Thursday!  It was an energetic and positive meeting at the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center in Palatine.  Our food demo was done by Renee Renz-- a warm and zingy ginger tea served with raw honey, and Edie Brennan brought GAPS "legal" pumpkin bread and homemade ghee to go along with it.

Our first lesson was an introduction to GAPS (Gut and Psychology/Gut and Physiology Syndrome)--we discussed how important our microbiota ("gut flora") are to our physical and mental health, how it is damaged and passed down generationally, and health problems that arise as a result.  There was a great discussion, with members sharing their stories, questions, and ideas.  There was great energy and many connections were made.

We welcome any feedback from those who attended, and hope even more can come to our next meeting on Thursday, December 1st at 7pm!  You won't want to miss the recipe/food portion, as Michelle Burr will be bringing a delicious GAPS apple crisp!  And of course, we will have a group lesson that will further expand our understanding of GAPS.

This group is for you, to gain and to share knowledge and support, to inspire and help each other--to make Connections!  We want everyone to be comfortable participating on whatever level you would like, and will have ongoing opportunities for those who wish to be more actively involved.  Please let us know if you would like to share or demonstrate your favorite GAPS recipe or cooking tip at a future meeting, or be our "official scribe" to take down notes and attendance each session.  Looking ahead, the next two meetings are scheduled for December 1st and December 15th, so mark your calendars accordingly.

We are truly inspired by all of you and humbled to be your "tour guides" on this journey to fill in the GAPS!

Warmest regards,
