The Chicago Data Visualization Group Message Board › Welcome our new organizers: Irvin Almonte and Kevin Dean

Welcome our new organizers: Irvin Almonte and Kevin Dean

Josh D.
Chicago, IL
I'm pleased to announce that the Chicago Data Visualization Group has two new organizers, Irvin Almonte and Kevin Dean, to assist in the planning of events and programs. I'm excited by the ideas that they bring to the table and looking forward to the addition of their leadership to the group. Below are a few words that each of them provided to introduce themselves to you.

Irvin Almonte

"I am a data analyst nearing completion of the Master of Predictive Analytics program at Northwestern University. I am also a professional artist (oil on canvas). I aim to conflate ideas between data analytics and aesthetics in order to shape and communicate a deeper understanding of human behavior by way of our digital footprints specially in social networks. To help further that goal, I find that the Chicago Data Visualization Group provides the perfect platform for learning, sharing, and promoting effective visual methods through practical application."
Kevin Dean
"I have over seven years of experience in enterprise-level software and database design, software development, and operational process improvement. I recently discontinued this career at a large industrial supply distribution company, however, in order to become a more creative coder, focusing on the methods of Generative Design as well as their intersection with data visualization. The technologies I am most interested in pursuing during the next twelve months are Processing, OpenFrameworks, D3.js, 3D printing, Microsoft Kinect, and Leap Motion. I'm excited to see where this journey takes me, and looking forward to learning from and collaborating with many talented creators along the way."
I'm really looking forward to the contributions of these guys. I'm always interested in having more members participate in organizing. In particular, I'm looking for individuals that wish to plan, or deliver, presentations on data journalism and practical applications of visualization with a business,
government, or non-profit purpose.
Stay tuned for information regarding future events.
