Hello! Everyone, My name is Diana and I am a survivor of sexual abuse and assualt. I live in the Chicagoland area and I work in the social work field and I have found that there is little support for those who have been through what I have been through and I want to change that. This group will be peer lead and will consist of an advocacy component. The reason why I want to start the Chicago Women Support and Advocacy Meetup Group for Survivors of Sexual Assualt and Abuse is because I would like to see a group out there that is peer lead and that advocates on behalf of sexaully assualted and abused victims. The purpose of this group is to create a safe space for all women to talk about the abuse, to get support, to get encouragement from other women to find ways to recover from the trauma and advocate on behalf of other women who are victims/suvivors of sexual assual and abuse. The people who join are women who are ready to share and listen to other women share their journey to reovery from this type of trauma, support and advocate for women in a safe space.
