Creative Writers Ambler Meetup

  • Dec 11, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

At this Meetup, we'll gather as a group to share our experiences with writing during the month. We'll share ideas and resources and offer encouragement about writing and the process of developing our projects - for ourselves or for publication. We'll also take some time to do writing prompt exercises or other fun writing activities as a way to increase our spontaneity, gain energy and inspiration, and have fun together. If you have writing that you'd like to share, please bring copies with you. We are always happy to celebrate the positive in the work we review and to offer constructive feedback where invited. If you have ideas for fun writing exercises we can do together, please bring them! We will be meeting once per month, on the 2nd Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. If you want to suggest additional times and places to meet, please know you are encouraged to do so. This is a community for all of us!

Four people showed. Loved the feedback and shared writing. Great snacks. Wonderful hostess.

Since we don't have a guest speaker for the upcoming meetup or any set agenda, I had an idea. I think we discussed doing writing exercises at one point, so I searched a bit online and found the following website:

It has 25 different writing exercises. Since they seem to be rather short in length, my suggestion is that everyone pick one (can overlap) and tackle it for the meetup on Wednesday. Then, anyone who wants to share their product with the group may and/or we can talk about what challenges we had in completing the exercise and how we overcame them (or what other strategies might also work). I would suggest picking something that you feel is a weakness to try to turn it into a strength.

If no one wants to do this, that's fine, too. I just thought it would be nice to have a plan that people can prep ahead of time and be ready to launch into as soon as the meetup begins.

GPS will tell you the house is down the street from where it actually is. You can see my house number on my mailbox.

Sorry I cannot make it anymore. Be there in January though. Have a productive session!

Please remember that tonight's meeting is at Lisa's house and not at The Resiliency Center. Have a fabulous time - and a wonderful holiday season. I look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.

Sorry I won't be able to make it to the critique group this time. I'm in a cast and can't really walk around. Maybe next month. Hope to see you then. I wish everyone a great holiday.
