Fiction Thursdays

This is our Thursday meetings. We will call it Fiction Thursday. That means that the prompts, encouragement, and critique will go to fiction writers first. Anyone that has not received a copy of our guidelines for critique please go to the pages and read before attending our meeting. Hard copies are available upon request. Bring 3-5 pages of your writing samples typed double-spaced. See you all there.

Hi group, I wanted to know whose initials are WU? Because they did a good job editing my story, but I don't know whom to give credit to. Please give me a sign, and thank you so much:-)

Hello creative people, Hope your weekend is smooth and enjoyable.
I just posted the continuing section of the chapter I had before, as usual, the word count makes it hard to share the entire chapter. I appreciate in advance your feedback and comments on this section. If
    Thank you all so much

I revised my poem in the dropbox. I have "Word Starter" and don't have funds to upgrade now. It doesn't have document protection so maybe I'll keep a copy in my private documents.
Is this where we post our dropbox stuff?

    February 23, 2013

As long as you maintain a copy outside of Dropbox, you should be fine with an unsecured document in Dropbox in case anything happens.

You *could* post stuff in the comments, but it's preferable to post it in the Critique Corner, since it's likely to be more visible than a comment in a meetup that has passed.

To get to the Critique Corner forum:
1.) Click on the "Discussions" button on the top menu bar of the Meetup page.
2.) Select "Message Board." This will take you to the message board.
3.) Click on "Critique Corner" on the bottom of the list. This will take you to the Critique Corner forum.
4.) Directly below the title of the forum where it says "Critique Corner" there's a button that says "Start a new discussion." Use that to start a new post in the forum : )

    Hello creative people,

I enjoyed last night's meet up, and create! I also wanted to thank all of you who read and edited my story. I take all your comments into account to better my writing. I am working on the next piece which is in the same chapter since we have to cut only 2000 words, and would like to share it with you for your input. Given our limited space in the dropbox, I am taking this first piece out, to make space for another one.
    Thanks again...

Space in Dropbox may be limited, but Word documents are relatively small. We're not so limited yet : )

Wow, had full turnout of everyone who RSVP'd! Had a great time, I love the energy so many creative people bring to the table. Just wish we had more time to get through more pieces, we all had so much to say : )

Great, and such neat people! (I have to watch what words I use in writing for the 30's/40's)

All of a sudden, our RSVP list is looking quite robust!

I know everyone is probably tired of hearing me shill for Dropbox, but if you're not already on the list, now is a prime time to send me your e-mail so I can send an invite. The more we have read head of time, the more time we can spend discussing instead of only reading : )

Alright, tomorrow's writing prompt is going to be:

"As an attempted writer, I find that when I think about all the ideas I've ever had for stories, I tend to revisit the same themes repeatedly. What is one of the themes that you keep coming back around to when you write?"

We'll have 10 minutes to work on this at the meetup, so write fast : )

I posted a link to the piece I'm bringing in the Critique Corner forum (Go to "Message Board" under "Discussion" up there on the menu bar.). Feel free to check it out!

Mike, I can't find your piece, not sure how to look for it, but I followed the discussion board, and I didn't see the link. Lots to learn for me this week:-)

Can't come till March, after I move. Could you post any prompts on the FB page, so those who can't make the meeting can use them and perhaps put their results in the DropBox?

Mike: Aha, good to know you need my email. Perhaps each meetup leader could get emails there. Here's mine: [masked].
