We are discussion and support group about alcohol use. The meetings provide an opportunity for curious users and former users to share thoughts and feelings about the impact of drinking on their lives, and to learn about practical and contemporary methods that help moderate alcohol use or overcome dependency.
We are people who want to drink less or stop, who need to stop but don't want to, who have stopped and want to stay sober, who are curious about why we drink as we do, or who are simply interested in learning about the effect of alcohol on our brains and bodies. If you fit any of the above, you are welcomed to join the group. Members use first names only.
The central philosophy of the group is this: whatever works, works! We are not against drinking, nor are we for or against any form of investigation or treatment of alcohol dependency, including medication, psychoanalysis, counseling, AA, yoga, meditation, and spirituality. While we don't preach abstinence, we recognize that alcohol abuse is a life threatening illness.
The meetings are facilitated by a trained and experienced life and executive coach and university professor.
Please be aware that the facilitator of this group works with people to change self-defeating habits. He isn't a medical doctor, psychologist, or clinical mental health therapist and does not offer medical advice or treatment. Any treatment methods discussed at the meetings are presented as options and not suggestions. Individuals with alcohol addiction or illness should seek the advice of a licensed health care professional.
