Are you the accountant who builds furniture on the weekends? The waitress who loves to paint? The lawyer who can't resist a mic? The office worker with poetry in her soul? There are many people who are in traditionally creative professions: painters, photographers, etc. But there are a whole lot more who do something "practical" for money, but who's true passion lies elsewhere. And so what? Why should we have to choose?
This group is for those of us who aren't artists in the all or nothing American sense but who have a desire to foster their creative sides. To meet other people in a spirit of encouragement and community. "Creative" is what ever you consider it to be: painting, sculpting, photography, electronics, welding, baking, writing, metal-working, etc etc.
Maybe you do want to quit your current job in order to live out a dream and want some encouragement with the transition. Maybe you have a non-annoying 9 to 5 and are looking to help sustain your motivation to create outside of work. Or maybe you're simply attempting a creative project and want to talk with people who aren't going to scoff at it.
We're just starting out, so we can figure out exactly what we're trying to do. But the purpose of this group is not to help you if you have an inchoate dissatisfaction and want some ideas. We're looking to help fan the flame, but the spark needs to be there first, even if you haven't done anything with it yet.
ok then. Let's see what happens now.
Howdy folks,
The last meetup was a bit disappointing because I ended up being the only one that showed due to a flurry of last minute cancellations. So let's try that again shall we?
This meeting will be to come up with a new Theme Challenge idea and anything else we want to talk about. Read more
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
