Ubuntu Release Party

OK, heard from David Overcash and time will be most likely 6:00p - 9:00p on the 10th of October.

Hanson's Tavern & Grill, on the Couch side, is all ours. In order to secure the spot, Hanson's asks that we spend some money with them. So, come on by, and partake in the delicious food, or one of the great beers they have on tap. It will help the group.

Oh, and while you are there, find out about all the new features of the new Ubuntu Maverick Meekrat. The last few times, David has had disks immediately, but our party this time is on the actual release date. So, if live disks are not available, I will have ISO images downloaded earlier that day, so bring a blank CD if you want a copy. I will download Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server, and Kubuntu.

Oh, and enjoy a beer and food, did I mention that? lol

This was a great get together for our combined groups! We were able to meet a lot of new people, and discuss all things computer related and some things that were not (The Makers Group www.clubworkshop.com) Who incident-ley got coverage in Tuesdays Denver Post article Tuesday http://www.denverpost.com/lifes...
I had so much fun I ended up being late to the airport. Thanks to the organisers for a great event.

I had a great time talking with peers, and I was able to upgrade the Ubuntu distribution on my netbook via Hanson's WiFi. I also saw some nice machines (netbook and notebook) from System76.

The party was fun. Very interesting conversations, excellent food and drink. What more could you want?

Lots of good conversations. Renew contact with some old acquaintance and meet some new people. Overall a good use of a Sunday evening.

David: This is to celibrate the release of the newest Ubuntu offering. There are lots of geeks there, and casual questions are generally fine, but if you are looking for major help, look to a group called clue, cluedenver.org, they have events every other month (they just had one about 10 days ago) called installfest. This is designed as a "bring your computer and we supply the geeks to help" type of events.

Walt: its the 10th. When I originally put the item in, it was the 10th. When I edited it, the meetup page changed it to me on the 11th, and I did not realised until later... I then changed it back to the correct date. Its Sunday the 10th because that is the day of the release 10/10/10 for release 10.10... somebody in London must of stayed up all night thinking that one up.
