I`m just writing to tell you about Celebrate London - the fastest growing social club on meetup UK. 2010 brings a whole host of exciting new events for members to enjoy as we look to turn up the heat (gas shortages permitting) and enjoy all the best that this amazing City has to offer.
Celebrate London`s own Blue Badge Guide Laurence Summers will continue his one man quest to shed light on all the nooks and crannies of his home City with his series of guided tours entitled `Summers in the City` (I though that one up myself - good isn`t it!). Laurence will be taking us on a chilling walk through the eerily dark streets of Whitehall in search of Jack The Ripper on March 5th.. Fellow blue badge guide Sean Simpson (one of the most hilarious guides I`ve ever experienced) will also be back on the 16th of April to tell us about London`s many film and literary associations and show us some of London`s most famous film locations.
We will also be continuing our series of events called `The Magical Mystery Tour` which periodically uncovers some of London`s many hidden gems, delves into the bowels of secret London and generally uncovers the bits of the City that escape even the most clued up of guide books.
If you like group walks this is the group for you as Celebrate London will be undertaking 50 London walks this year, everything from Historic Westminister to majestic Richmond, bustling Notting Hill to tranquil Barnes. And whats more our walks will always be part guided by yours truly. I will be giving you an insight into the history of each area and pointing out the points of interest both historical and cultural on each walk.
2010 will also be the year in which we focus on the Anglo-saxons and we will be embarking on a series of events to uncover their history, their culture and their legacy. And as summer approaches we will be making a series of trips to sites associated with anglo saxon history and having a number of specially designed tours that will give us a greater insight into their times.
However, we are going to let our hair down too! Celebrate London Nites will bring you a series of great events including trips to comedy clubs, wine bars and the odd night club. CL performance will bring you regular cinema and theatre outings from February. Also, 12 Amazing Days in One Year will bring us 12 breathtaking new experiences to delve into starting with the London City Hunt in february. Part self led tour, part treasure hunt, gather the clues as you move through the streets with your team to find the finishing line and win the prize.
The Celebrate London Dining Club will also return after its Rio Carnival inspired night at guanabara Restaurant we`ll be off in search of great tapas and good conversation in March.
Then if you chuck in our new singing theme The Karaoke Challenge, a range of sporting events in the summer and a number of group trips to domestic and foriegn destinations then you can probably see that its going to be quite a busy year. Sound like fun? Then what are you waiting for? Click the link and join the celebration! http://www.meetup.com/celebrate-london/
