Practicing Presence

In each of our Presence Practice programs, we engage different ways of staying present. Some of these programs are individual, others are done with a partner. The key is to be able to stay present in your body and engaged in the moment - without thinking about anything else. In our chaotic world, we are often trained to try to multi-task (a process proven in recent psychological and neurological studies not to exist).

Being Present

In presence practice you are asked to do nothing other than be here now with whatever practice is in play. Your facilitators will lead you in the practice and help bring you back to yourself when your attention wanders.

Journaling

Sometimes presence is about being in the moment with what is there. Other times it's about raising your awareness of what is there when you're not looking. Journaling is a great way to dig into the assumptions that we make that create the world in which we live. If our assumptions serve us, then things work well. If they don't, then we have challenges. There is no other way to change your life than to change the filters and assumptions through which you view, and thus, create it. This program will begin with our regular presence practice and then we will go into journaling on questions specifically focused on the work we are doing on this moon.

Commuting and Parking

I'm less than half a mile from Porter Square and easily accessible by the Red Line, and/or the number 83 and 87 buses (Sacramento Street or Lowell Street stop - depending on the direction you're coming from).

2-Hour parking is available on-street on both Somerville Ave and Elm Street. There are meters at the bottom of Ibbetson St. that end at 8pm. We will also have one parking pass available for the first person to arrive.
