Concurrency in C++11

Details
Hello everyone! Very pleased to announce that Carl Cook is willing to give a talk this next meetup. He is a software engineer (Ph.D. level software design and distributed systems) with eight years' experience in finance, who is interested and experienced in the implementation of high performance trading algorithms.
Topic
Modern computer architectures are inherently multi-threaded. In this talk, an overview of support for concurrency in C++11 will be given. We will work through a few code examples, with a focus on the standard library, but we might drill down into lower level details where required. Time permitting, we can also take a quick look at proposed enhancements in C++14.
Please note that this will be a talk on C++11's support for multi-threading and concurrency - not a presentation on the pros and cons of threading, designing for performance, etc."
Host
Huxley Associates is an international recruitment agency specializing in the placement of senior professionals in a diverse range of sectors. They place a lot of C++ developers too, and luckily for us they are willing to host the next meetup in a nice location in Amsterdam!
