Sunday Photowalk

Meet at Sainsbury’s Local before heading to The Meadows where we can shoot some of the blossom on Jawbone Walk and Boy’s Brigade Walk. Then head into George Square for the gardens and some of the University buildings. Finally walk back through McEwan Square to the Quartermile for some interesting modern glass buildings and a coffee at Caffè Nero, Lister Square for those who would like to.

Hopefully a mix of landscape, cityscape, architecture and street.

New and existing members with all levels of skill and enthusiasm welcome!

Another cemetery to try some moody (or not) shots in.

Grange Cemetery was established in 1847 by the Southern Cemetery Company Ltd. on land acquired from the Dick Lauder family of the Grange Estate.

It was designed by David Bryce the architect and was built on a rectangular pattern around central vaulted catacombs which are built into the crest of the hill.

No particular theme but there are some interesting ornate graves and at least 6 memorials with Greek inscriptions. Also around 40 species of trees including copper beech, limes, silver birch, wild cherries.

We'll meet at the entrance on Beauford Road/Grange Road at 1pm and then afterwards, around 2:30pm at the Brass Monkey at 1 Grange Road.
I'm not going to be there as I'll still be away on travels.

The theme this week is circles and squares, either on their own, together or within a larger image.

Maybe also try using square format for the finished image and a triptych too if feeling ambitious.

We'll meet at the William Gladstone statue at Coates Crescent Gardens at 1pm. At 2:30ish we can join up at the Fox and Faun at 101 Shandwick Place.

Photographic Scavenger Hunt

Just like a typical Scavenger Hunt you will be given a list of items but instead of collecting them, your challenge will be to take an interesting shot of them.

Meet at Covenanters' Memorial, outside Biddy Mulligans to collect your list and head off from there. Your scavenge could take in West Port, Grassmarket, Victoria Street and Cowgate. Once we are finished we can have a drink in Biddy's, for those who would like to.

Should be a chance for cityscape, macro, architecture, street and still life.
