No matter where you are located or what stage you are in starting your fashion brand the basics of building your brand are the same- design, production, marketing, and sales. MOST emerging designers find selling their product and producing their product the HARDEST part of their business.

Whether you’re an emerging designer, new to the fashion business, or a fashion student thinking of launching your own label, this workshop will give you the practical insight into the production and sales process and the systems you need to have in place in order to avoid costly mistakes and spinning your wheels with no results.

The Fashion Potential and ThunderLily NYC provide an insight into the real world of being a successful designer and selling your designs. Learn the secrets of how to brand your business, how to work with patternmakers and seamstresses, how to approach buyers and receive a private evaluation of your designs.

Wondering why a retail buyer won’t call or email you back? Melissa McGraw, FIT professor and founder of The Fashion Potential, knows what buyers want and how to approach them the right way. Learn how to price and present your line effectively and reach the best retailers for your brand.

Defining your Brand: What’s your story?

Clare Tattersall of ThunderLily NYC works with emerging designers, facilitating the journey from sketch to launching their collection. This session is designed to help you tell your story. We’ll discuss some of the following topics- naming your company, defining your brand message, developing a compelling tagline and writing your elevator pitch.

You have your designs on paper, but how do you find a factory to match your vision? This session takes you step by step through the design and production process and demystifies the facts behind finding a factory and effectively communicating your designs through sketches and flats.
This session includes optional Individual assessments and guidance on what your flats communicate to a pattern-maker and factory.
