Note: Instead of being led by a Fun & Easy Fitness Group host, this walk will be conducted by Sierra Club leaders. Meet at the Interpretative Center parking lot on Warner near Pacific Coast Highway

http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/2/9/b/0/event_201070672.jpegThe walk will take you on paths through the mostly flat wetlands, where countless of water fowl make their home or stop to rest and feed before traveling again on their migratory path.

Bordered on one side by Pacific Coast Highway and oil fields and houses on the other, Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve wetlands is a 300 acre coastal sanctuary for wildlife and migratory birds. There's a wooden bridge crossing over a tidal inlet and a 5-mile loop trail providing spectacular wildlife viewing. This docent-guided walk takes about 2 to 3 hours to complete, depending on the pace of the group.

This is a beginner level walk at a relaxed pace, with many stops along the route to admire the view and birds.The walk is an introductory event offered by the Sierra Club, called a "Newcomers Hike." Walk leaders will be Donna Specht, Joel Kenyon,and Houria Hall.

You might want to bring a water bottle. Cameras are fun. There is a porta-potty at the nature center if you need one.

MEETUP LOCATION: Please note that this event will start at the Interpretative Center parking lot on Warner near Pacific Coast Highway. (We will NOT meet at our usual meetup location off PCH across from the Bolsa Chica State Beach, where we walk on our evening walks.) See directions below.

PARKING: Park where you can find a space in the lot next to the Interpretive Center. The lot fills up fast on the weekend. You may also park across the street at the Jack-in-the-Box fast food restaurant and walk over.
