Walk in Central Park

Join us in a refreshing morning walk at the park, followed by coffee at an outdoor cafe overlooking the lake.

Part of the time we'll be walking on sidewalk through the beautiful, landscaped western portion of Central Park. We'll circle around a duck-filled lake, then return to our starting point near the Shipley Nature Center. Then we'll cross Goldenwest street at the traffic signal, and walk on the sidewalk through the beautiful east side of Central Park. We'll end up at the Park Bench Cafe (on the east side of the park) or at Kathy May's Lakeview Café (on the west side of the park), where we'll stop for coffee and breakfast.

The entire walk takes about an hour and 15 minutes, depending on our pace. The distance is about 3  miles or so. Wear comfortable walking shoes (tennis shoes are fine), wear a light jacket and maybe wear a hat with a brim. You might want to carry a water bottle.

The route is stroller-friendly. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are permitted.

MEET-UP LOCATION:We'll meet at the gravel parking lot for the Shipley Nature Center. The Shipley Nature Center is located on Goldenwest Street between Central Library and Rio Vista, which are located between Ellis and Slater. Do NOT go to the parking lot of the Park Bench Cafe. The Shipley Nature Center parking lot is across the street.

Please arrive 10 minutes early; we will start walking at 8:00 am sharp.

We enjoyed a refreshing walk followed by a stop at the lakeview café for coffee. Laura, we waited for you for 10 minutes, and started walking since you didn't show. I saw you in your car after we started walking. We slowed down our pace to allow you to catch up, but I guess you changed your mind. Next time, please try to arrive 5 or 10 minutes early. Look forward to having you join us!
