The Future of Dating

As anyone's who's been single recently knows, the dating landscape has changed.  According to some statistics more relationships start online than offline now and that percentage is only getting higher.

Does online dating fundamentally change the way we look for and relate to one another?  Do the fundamental changes we've already discussed--in technology, the economy, and other places--alter the nature of what we're looking for in a partner?  Is it "romantic" to sift through potential mates the same way you'd find cheap airfare?  And does "romance" even still matter any more?

Come join us as we discuss these issues as more.  As always, there are a couple readings meant to spur thought and discussion under the pages/reading tab.  Bring friends, family, or internet dates.

p.s. we're back to a Saturday day, so hopefully no live music this time.

I'll be in Vegas. In the meantime, here are 150 more things to worry about ...

    Hi all,

Due to a bunch of people being unavailable this weekend and in order to try to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge that Robert could bring to this topic, I'm rescheduling this Future of Dating Meet-Up for Sunday, July 21st. That said, for those who were planning to come this Saturday, I still plan to be at the Culver Hotel and would love to have a casual, free-flowing discussion with whoever wants to attend about anything.

Hope to see you at both!

Thanks Daniel. I will TRY to attend, but since some groups bar you or torture you if you don't show up, it's safer for me to guess "no."

FYI---I did give my Ask the Sexologist Q&A lecture yesterday in the valley...and I invited people from several meetup groups to attend.

If the group ever wanted a Q&A (it's all generated by the attendees)---on sex/dating/relationships etc...I'm happy to provide the data, answers, and I promise I am as FUNNY as most standup comics!!!

I did my PhD dissertation on first blind dates (yes, I really did!!). I go to conferences on sexuality where dating/relationships and new models like polyamory and open relationships are also discussed by the academics there...such as the AASECT conference in Miami two weeks ago.

Wow! Sounds like you would be an invaluable asset to this discussion. So sorry you won't be able to make this one.
