Introductory Python Presentations

We will meet regularly on the 2nd Tuesday of each month starting on May 8th, 2012 when we will have a couple of introductory presentations/activities on the Python Programming Language, the Python Library and Python Frameworks. One of the two presentations/activities will be oriented towards introducing Python to attendees that are not yet familiar with the language. One of the two presentations/activities will be be geared towards presenting some of the more powerful and interesting aspects of the language, its library and frameworks coded in the language.  The style of these presentations/activities will mix presentation with hands-on activities.  More details will be coming.

I found the initial discussion (Python vs. other languages) interesting, but I was not expecting the group programming exercise. Different people learn differently, and I don't find hands-on, real-time programming activities useful. I would be interested in talks about techniques and approaches, or even interactive discussions of complete or incomplete Python code examples, but the group programming competitions aren't for me. Sorry.
